Body found near Highland loch during search for missing Inverness man
A body has been discovered near Lochan an Eoin Ruadha during the search for Kenneth Wilson, 70, who vanished on a Sunday fishing trip in the Highlands.

A body has been found in the search for a 70-year-old Inverness man who disappeared after going fishing at a remote Highland loch on Sunday, 31 August 2026. Police Scotland confirmed the discovery was made at approximately 12.05am on Tuesday.
Kenneth Wilson had travelled to Lochan an Eoin Ruadha, a small loch situated on Ashie Moor between Loch Ness and Loch Duntelchaig, roughly two miles south-east of the village of Dores. His vehicle was located a short distance from the water's edge.
That was what first prompted officers to raise the alarm.
The search and its location
Lochan an Eoin Ruadha lies in open moorland south of Inverness, and the terrain presented a significant challenge for search teams over two days. The body of a man was discovered in ground near the loch.
Formal identification had not taken place as of the morning of 1 September, though Kenneth's family had been informed, STV News reported.
Description and circumstances
Kenneth Wilson was described by Police Scotland as standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a large build, white hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing glasses, black trousers and brown walking boots.
Nobody had seen or heard from him since Sunday, according to the Daily Record.
Police appeal before the discovery
Before the body was found, Police Scotland Sergeant Lewis Macleod had appealed publicly for information, telling the Inverness Courier that concern for Kenneth's welfare was growing with each passing hour. Concern was mounting fast.
Sergeant Macleod urged anyone who had seen Kenneth near the loch, or who had any knowledge of his movements, to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3018 of 31 August 2026.
The search unfolded over two nights. Moorland in that area offers little shelter and limited road access. Kenneth's car, found close to the loch, gave officers a fixed point from which to organise ground operations.
Identification pending
Police Scotland has not formally confirmed the identity of the person found. Further steps to establish that will follow in due course. No third-party involvement is suggested by the available information.
The matter is being treated as a missing person inquiry concluded by the discovery.
